Hi! I’m Linnea Frye.

I’m a Chicago-based actor, improviser, writer and director with a serious passion for telling women’s stories and making people laugh. I’ve performed in (literally) over 1,500 improv, sketch comedy, stand-up shows, rap battles, and roasts - and have recently become quite taken with teaching what I’ve learned at The Second City (where I was presented with The Jim Julevic Award in 2020) and via private coaching. When I’m not onstage or in the classroom, I work as an on-camera actor and voiceover artist - so, if you like commercials, you’re in luck!

I’m currently traveling the festival circuit with my first film, Lily’s Mirror, which I co-wrote, co-directed, and played the lead. Lily’s Mirror won Best Short Film at Genre Blast in 2022 and was nominated for numerous other awards including Best Narrative Film at Miami International Short Film Festival, Best Comedy at Short Com, and The Minerva Award at FilmQuest.

Before moving to Chicago, I was a General Company Member at Dad’s Garage Theatre in Atlanta where I improvised, taught, co-wrote five fully produced comedic plays, made a handful of video sketches, and was their marketing director for 10 years. Oh, and when I’m not being creative, I help women and other creatives with their businesses. Check it out. :D
