Lily’s Mirror - Synopsis

Struggling with phantom-limb syndrome after a dinner date severs her hand, Lily is given a therapeutic mirror box that enables an unexpected paranormal ability. A super inventive experimental dramedy that tackles the dead-serious subject of gendered violence and the social conditionings that enable it.

Reviews.

“A fresh and engaging satire from co-writers/co-directors Linnea Frye and Adam Pinney, Lily’s Mirror is a brilliant, hilarious, wholly inventive, and ultimately damning takedown of the quotidian nature of gendered violence and society’s laissez-faire attitude toward male entitlement.”

“I found myself nodding, laughing, and exclaiming, “This is sheer perfection.” Highlighting women going to bat for other women and the fragility of the white man, Lily’s Mirror could easily be an entire series or feature film.”

“Steeped in black humor, but delivered dead straight, this is a film focused on pointing up absurdities in the real world. There are no weak links in the cast, all of whose members work well together, and Frye makes us feel for Lily even when she shows surprisingly limited concern for herself.”

— Jennie Kermode

The idea of gendered violence, and the social structure that empowers perpetrators while shaming victims, is explored with inventive creativity and wit.”

“This movie exists in its own world with its own rules, a place at once brighter and darker than our own. I loved every single minute of this short and it definitely deserves to be a full-length movie.”
